Careers in Construction Month

Celebrate construction in october

Careers in Construction Month (CICM) is a nationwide campaign held every October to increase public awareness of construction careers, inspire the next generation of craft professionals and make an impact on the perceptions of a career in construction.

During this month, supporting organizations can get involved by submitting a proclamation, signing the CICM pledge, spreading the word on social media and participating in the I BUILT THIS! video contest.

Spread awareness of career opportunities! Submit an official proclamation in your state to proclaim October as CICM.

Pledge to make an industry and education connection to reach students and shape positive perceptions of construction.

The I BUILT THIS! video contest gives aspiring craft professionals or instructors an opportunity to showcase their projects.

Take The Pledge

Together, we can spread the word about the wide range of successful and lucrative construction career paths while promoting positive perceptions of construction. Our goal is to encourage both industry representatives and educators to create meaningful connections.

By signing the pledge and participating in at least one classroom engagement, whether virtual or in person, you will be entered into a drawing for one of four $5,000 scholarships to be given to the secondary craft training program of your choice. Eligibility requirements apply.

Proclaim October as Careers in Construction Month

We Proclaimed 2022

Map last updated 10/31/2022.

State governments can officially proclaim October as Careers in Construction Month to help grow the celebration! Last year, a record-breaking 47 states and U.S. territories participated by proclaiming or having a proclamation request filed. Can we beat that number this year?

To file a proclamation request in your location, follow the steps below:

1. Look up your state on the guide to find your governor’s website and proclamation information. Use our sample “Where-As” statements to help fill out the proclamation request.

2. Let us know when you file your proclamation by emailing us at proclaim@nccer.org, and we’ll mark your state on our map. Be sure to tell us your name, filing organization and state.

All who submit their state’s official proclamation are entered into a raffle for BYF swag and a $300 gift card. The winner will be chosen in mid-October.
